Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell is getting noticed ahead of the Crimson Tide's Week 6 SEC home game against Georgia. Bryce Young and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart both called Russell a "new-age" quarterback, while former Alabama coach Nick Saban said Russell and Young are "very similar."

CBS Sports spotlighted the quarterback matchup between Russell and Georgia's Gunner Stockton ahead of the game. The comparison between the two signal-callers has drawn a lot of talk among fans and analysts. Saban's comments in particular got noticed, given his familiarity with both programs.

Smart's use of the "new-age" label echoes what Young also said about Russell's playing style. The phrase suggests Russell operates in a way that stands out compared to pocket passers of earlier eras. Rece Davis also spoke highly of him and called the Alabama-Georgia contest a "big" matchup in the SEC schedule, reinforcing how much is at stake for both teams.
